Hi, I’m Melinda, a Schroth-trained scoliosis specialist and physical therapist serving Springfield, Missouri and surrounding communities, specializing in scoliosis, spine health, posture, back pain, and cheerleading injury prevention.
I’m also a wife, mother of two daughters, fitness enthusiast, and proud scoliosis momma.
Looking back, it’s easy to see how every step of my career was preparing me for the work I do today.
For over 20 years, I have worked as a physical therapist helping people move better and feel better. Much of that time was spent treating conditions rooted in postural asymmetry. For more than 15 years, I specialized in treating infants with torticollis, a condition characterized by asymmetrical positioning and movement patterns. Day after day, I found myself studying how the body adapts, compensates, and develops around these asymmetries.
As my career evolved, I began working closely with cheerleaders and other athletes. What started as injury prevention and performance training quickly revealed something I couldn’t ignore—an unusually high number of these athletes also had scoliosis. At the same time, many of the patients I was treating for back pain had underlying scoliosis or postural asymmetries contributing to their symptoms.
No matter who walked through my door—an infant, an athlete, or an adult with chronic pain—the common thread was always posture, movement, and asymmetry.
Ironically, scoliosis was also the diagnosis that challenged me the most.
It wasn’t that my patients weren’t improving. They were. But I knew there was more I could be doing. I wanted to understand not only how to help people manage symptoms, but how to better understand the condition itself and support long-term outcomes.
Then scoliosis became personal.
When my youngest daughter was diagnosed with scoliosis, everything changed. The questions I had been asking professionally suddenly became questions I was asking as a mother. Like many families, we were faced with uncertainty, conflicting information, and a lot of unanswered questions.
That experience ignited a passion that has shaped the direction of my career ever since.
As both a scoliosis specialist and a scoliosis momma, I became committed to learning everything I could about scoliosis, spinal alignment, posture, and human movement. That journey eventually led me to Schroth training and inspired the development of Biofunctional Pattern Integration® (BPI®), a system that brings together functional movement, motor learning, sensorimotor integration, postural awareness, and over two decades of clinical experience.
Today, my mission is simple: to help individuals and families better understand their bodies so they can make informed decisions, move with greater confidence, and take an active role in their long-term health.
Whether you’re navigating scoliosis, struggling with back pain, working to improve posture, or striving to perform at your best as an athlete, my goal is to provide the education, guidance, and hope I wish every family had access to from the very beginning.
