What Is STOP THE PROGRESSION?

Created by Schroth-trained physical therapist and scoliosis mom, Melinda Paulsell, Stop the Progression was founded with one mission: to empower individuals with the education, awareness, and tools to help stop the progression of scoliosis as well as reduce back pain, improve posture, and restore lifelong function.
More than an educational platform, Stop the Progression is a comprehensive, one-of-a-kind, whole-body approach designed to help individuals better understand how posture, movement, breathing, balance, body awareness, and daily habits influence spinal health, movement, and overall function. By identifying often-overlooked contributors to pain, dysfunction, and progressive postural changes, individuals can build a stronger foundation for long-term health while helping to prevent future pain, support healthier posture, and maintain movement and function throughout life.
At its core is BioFunctional Pattern Integration® (BPI)—a unique movement framework originally developed as an injury prevention program for athletes. By improving body awareness, proprioception, balance, postural control, and functional movement, BPI helps individuals restore balance, move more efficiently, and develop healthier movement patterns that support both performance and everyday life.
While originally developed for athletes—including cheerleaders, gymnasts, dancers, and other active individuals who often face unique postural and movement demands—BPI has proven just as effective for non-athletes and individuals of all ages seeking greater ease, stability, confidence, and function in everyday life.
Whether you have scoliosis, persistent back pain, changing posture, or simply want to move and function at your best, Stop the Progression provides the knowledge and practical strategies to help you take an active role in your health—because understanding your body is the first step toward changing its future.
